Curriculum
Nicolas volgde al op jeudige leeftijd pianoles bij Marie Kuijken en orgelles bij Jenny Stoop, Jo Van Eetvelde en Lieve Van de Rosteyne.
Daarna studeerde hij aan het Lemmensinstituuut in Leuven bij Reitze Smits en Luc Ponet.
Daar behaalde hij de graad van ‘meester in de muziek’ voor orgel met de grootste onderscheiding (2007) en het masterdiploma klavecimbel met onderscheiding (2010).
Hij beëindigde zijn specialisatiegraad orgel met een recitalconcert in de Brusselse kathedraal rond het thema licht en verrijzenis in de hedendaagse orgelmuziek, met de grootste onderscheiding en felicitaties van de jury (2010).
Aan de KU Leuven behaalde Nicolas met onderscheiding het diploma van ‘Master of Arts’ in de musicologie (2012).
Als continuospeler verleent Nicolas regelmatig zijn medewerking aan verscheidene ensembles.
Hij speelde samen met o.m. Il Fondamento, BachPlus en La Petite Bande en vormt geregeld een muzikaal duo met hoboïste Ilse Barbaix.
Hij werd o.m. laureaat van de Axion Classics-wedstrijd van Dexia Bank (2002), van het internationale orgelconcours te Leiden in de categorie ‘Orgelmuziek XXe eeuw’ (2006) en van het internationale César Franckconcours te Haarlem (2007).
Hij verleende zijn medewerking aan enkele CD-opnames, waaronder de uitgave door Orgelkunst van het volledige orgel-oeuvre van Gabriël Verschraegen.
In 2014 realiseerde hij zijn eerste solo-CD ‘Over grenzen heen’ op het historische Le Royer-orgel van de Sint-Pieterskerk in Turnhout.
Nicolas is leraar orgel, klavecimbel, begeleidingspraktijk en muziekgeschiedenis aan de muziekacademie in Hamme.
Hij was meer dan tien jaar lang titularis-organist in de monumentale Sint-Pauluskerk te Antwerpen.
Na een selectieprocedure werd Nicolas eind 2019 aangesteld als titularis-organist van de Sint-Baafskathedraal te Gent. Zo ging een droom in vervulling.
Naast een gepassioneerd muzikant is Nicolas ook een bevlogen spreker.
Hij geeft regelmatig lezingen rond diverse muzikale thema’s.

Curriculum (ENGLISH)
At an early age Nicolas took piano lessons from Marie Kuijken and organ lessons from Jenny Stoop, Jo Van Eetvelde and Lieve Van de Rosteyne. He then studied at the Lemmens Conservatory in Leuven and was taught by Reitze Smits and Luc Ponet. There he obtained the degree "Master of Music" for organ with the highest distinction (2007) and the master's degree in harpsichord with distinction (2010). He completed his organ specialization with a recital concert in the Brussels cathedral on the theme of light and resurrection in contemporary organ music. He received the greatest distinction and congratulations from the jury (2010). Nicolas graduated with distinction from the "Master of Arts" in musicology at KU Leuven (2012).
As a continuo player, Nicolas regularly collaborates with various ensembles. He has played with Il Fondamento, BachPlus and La Petite Bande and regularly forms a musical duo with oboist Ilse Barbaix.
He was a laureate of the Axion Classics competition of Dexia Bank (2002), of the international organ competition in Leiden in the category "Organ music XXth century" (2006) and of the international César Franck competition in Haarlem (2007). He contributed to a number of CD recordings, including the publication by Orgelkunst of the complete organ oeuvre of Gabriel Verschraegen. In 2014 he released his first solo CD "Across borders", performed on the historic Le Royer organ of the Sint-Pieterskerk in Turnhout. Nicolas teaches organ, harpsichord, accompaniment and music history at the music academy in Hamme. for more than ten years he was organist in the monumental Sint-Pauluskerk in Antwerp. After a selection procedure, Nicolas was appointed organist of the St. Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent at the end of 2019. That is how a dream came true. In addition to being a passionate musician, Nicolas is also an enthusiastic speaker. He regularly gives lectures on various musical themes.
